What’s In The Briefcase In Pulp Fiction: 6 Interesting Theories

“What was in the briefcase in“ Pulp Fiction? ”Is a question that worries many, but to which the film’s director Quentin Tarantino himself answered with restraint, saying only that there is what the viewer wants to be there. Of course, this did not prevent Internet theorists from coming up with various versions of what could lie there, the most interesting of which we will discuss below.

MacGuffin / MacGuffin

Before starting to list the possible contents of the suitcase, it is worth noting that a technique with the introduction of some important, but not playing a special role, subject into the plot is called “mcgraffin”.

Simply put, McGuffin is an object that moves history forward, but really has nothing to do with history at all. Examples include the rug in The Big Lebowski, the Heart of the Ocean necklace in Titanic, or our mysterious suitcase.

Oscar is in the suitcase

The funniest theory is that the suitcase contains the Oscar that gangster Marcellus Wallace stole for his failed wife, actress Mia Wallace.

The suitcase contains diamonds from Reservoir Dogs.

The next theory is that the suitcase contains diamonds stolen from a jewelry store in Reservoir Dogs. This theory, believe it or not, is the most logical.

In the early stages of writing the script for Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avery really wanted to “put” these stolen diamonds in their briefcase, thereby developing the theory that all of the director’s films are in the same universe. However, this idea was dismissed as “too predictable” and the contents of the suitcase remained in question.

The suitcase contains a gold Elvis suit from “True Love”

Another theory is that the suitcase contains Elvis Presley’s golden suit from True Love, which was written by Quentin Tarantino.

The film shows a scene where the character of Christian Slater attends the appearance of Elvis, who wears a gold suit, and since Reservoir Dogs and True Love were originally one big script, it is not difficult to imagine how a suitcase with a glowing golden Elvis suit migrated to Pulp Fiction”. Again, this assumption is based on the theory that all of Tarantino’s films are related to each other, although True Love is not technically a director’s film.

The suitcase contains the soul of Marcellus Wallace.

However, the most popular theory is that the suitcase contains the soul of the gangster Marcellus Wallace, and that he sold it to the Devil in exchange for an outstanding reputation and financial success. Proof? Scar on the back of the head covered with adhesive tape. The combination of the lock on the briefcase in the form of the devil’s number (666), as well as the divine protection from bullets, in the scene when Vincent and Jules come for a suitcase.

This theory appears to have arisen because in Chinese culture there are references to souls being pulled from the back of the head. Of course, we could not find any mention of the removal of souls in this or any other way, either in Chinese or in any other culture, but we found information that the plaster at the place of the “removal” of the soul was just covering non-photogenic scar of actor Wing Reames.

There is a light bulb in the suitcase

But the real answer about what is still in the suitcase came from the lips of actor John Travolta, who said that a battery-powered light bulb was placed in the suitcase to glow. Whether this was done to create the effect that the suitcase contains a soul, gold, a suit, an Oscar or diamonds is unknown, but the technique worked, which means that praise for ingenuity has been completed.

Back in the 1990’s when Pulp Fiction came out a lot of people wore a lot of “Bling” usually in the form of Large heavy gold Jewel/diamond encrusted necklaces especially around the L.A. scene a sign of their status…(Status symbol) the reason he had a scar on the back of his neck is where Brett and his college buddies ripped it off of him cutting the and fled….college boys are all about status and status symbols probably did this dangerous and deadly task as an initiation rite to get into a certain college fraternity…LOL!!
