Meaning of Hey Jude by The Beatles & The Story

The story of the famous ballad Hey Jude by The Beatles is well known to Beatle fans. Julian, the son of John and Cynthia Lennon, was very worried when his parents were about to divorce.

Paul McCartney, who was a close friend of the family, supported him with a wonderful song.

The story of creation and the meaning of the song Hey Jude

It happened in the summer of 1968. Paul was driving to join them in Weybridge, trying to compose something on the way, but all his thoughts were that he had known this couple for a million years, and now sad changes were brewing in their lives. He also chose words that could cheer Julian up. He imagined how he would say that everything would be fine, he just needed to cheer up and so on.

It was then that he had the idea to write a song that would begin with the words “Hey Jule.” Later, for the sake of euphony, he changed his name to Jude. This version of the creation of the composition was repeatedly voiced by McCartney himself, Cynthia Lennon and many others.

It is only curious that Julian did not find out about this until twenty years later. Moreover, John Lennon was sure that McCartney dedicated Hey Jude to him, and Paul denied this, saying that he wrote about himself. Also, there are still quite a few people who sincerely believe that this song is about them (for example, journalist Judith Simons from the Daily Express).

Release and achievements

The Beatles recorded Hey Jude with an orchestra of thirty-six musicians. It is known that the Beatles asked them to clap their hands and sing in chorus in the final part, promising double payment, which one of the orchestra members indignantly refused.

The single was released on August 26, 1968 in the US and August 30 in the UK. He was waiting for a triumphal procession on the charts, millions of sales, eighth place in the list of the 500 greatest songs of all time, compiled by Rolling Stone magazine, as well as other awards and nominations.

Hey Jude Lyrics by The Beatles

Hey Jude, don’t make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better.

Hey Jude, don’t be afraid.
You were made to go out and get her.
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain,
Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it’s a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder.

Hey Jude, don’t let me down.
You have found her, now go and get her.
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better.

So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin,
You’re waiting for someone to perform with.
And don’t you know that it’s just you, hey Jude, you’ll do,
The movement you need is on your shoulder.

Hey Jude, don’t make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you’ll begin to make it

Lyrics Hey Jude by The Beatles Alternate

Hey Jude, don’t be sad
Take a sad song and sing it merrily
Don’t forget to let her into your heart
Then it will sound better

Hey Jude don’t be afraid
You are destined to fulfill it
Once you feel it on your skin
She will sound better.

And every time you get hurt, Jude, sing
You don’t have to take it all on your shoulders
‘Cause you know only a fool would try to look cool
Making your life even harder

Hey Jude don’t let me down
You found her, so go ahead
Don’t forget to let her into your heart
Then it will sound better

So go ahead, Jude, get started.
Are you looking for someone to sing it with,
But don’t you know she’s only yours, Jude, you can handle it
Just straighten your shoulders

Hey Jude, don’t be sad
Take a sad song and sing it merrily
Don’t forget to let her into your heart
Then it will sound better
