Soviet music lovers fell in love with the Scorpions, first of all, for their amazing romantic ballads. Frankly, the author of these lines, having become acquainted in his youth with the work of the German band, was also a fan of their melodic songs and was amazed when he found out that these German rockers were by no means averse to misbehaving in music.
What is worth only their composition Rock You Like a Hurricane (“I’ll shake you like a hurricane”), which outraged the public with a provocative text and a defiant video.
The story of creation and the meaning of the song Rock You Like a Hurricane
The lyrics were written by the band’s drummer Herman Rarebell. According to him, he woke up at five in the morning after a stormy night full of cocaine and sex, looked at his scratched back, at the sleeping girl, sat down and described all this in the text of the future hit.
He immediately played their melody, which Rudolf Schenker had previously played for him.
Rock You Like a Hurricane was one of the songs that inspired the so-called “Washington Wives” to form the PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center). This organization tried to convince record companies to place warning signs on discs with potentially dangerous content (scenes of a sexual nature, propaganda of drugs, violence, and so on).
But all this hype only became additional advertising for the song included in the Love at First Sting album. On the Billboard Hot 100, Rock You Like a Hurricane climbed to number 25. It was later included in VH1’s lists of the greatest songs of metal and hard rock.
In 2000, the Scorpions recorded a new version of the song, accompanied by the Berlin Philharmonic, for the album Moment of Glory, calling it Hurricane 2000.
Video of Rock You Like a Hurricane
The music video for the song is as provocative as the song itself. Half-naked, painted girls, wild animals, musicians playing in a cage, which is shaken by a raging crowd – all this aroused the indignation of respectable citizens.

Rock You Like a Hurricane Lyrics Alternate
It’s early morning
The sun comes out
Last night was shaking
And pretty loud
My cat is purring
And scratches my skin.
So what is wrong
With another sin
The bitch is hungry
She needs to tell
So give her inches
And feed her well
More days to come
New places to go
I’ve got to leave
It’s time for a show
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
My body is burning
It starts to shout
Desire is coming
It breaks out loud
Lust is in cages
Till storm break loose
Just have to make it
With someone I choose
The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs to show
He’s licking his lips
He’s ready to win
On the hunt tonight
For love at first sting
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane x4
Lyrics of Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions
Early morning,
The sun rises
Last night was stormy
And quite loud
My kitty is purring
And scratches me
So why not
Don’t sin again
This hunger bitch
She needs to talk
So give her some inches
And eat well
There will be other days
Other places,
I have to leave
Time to start the show
Here I am, shake you like a hurricane
Here I am, shake you like a hurricane
My body is on fire
It starts screaming
Rolls desire
And breaks out
Lust languishes behind bars
Until the hurricane sets her free
I just have to do it
With someone I choose
The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs to the show
He licks his lips
He is ready to win
He’s hunting today
For love at first bite
Here I am, shake you like a hurricane (4 times)
