British vocalist Ozzy Osbourne has repeatedly said that John Lennon is his hero. It would be surprising if among the songs of the heavy metal legend there was not a single one in imitation of his idol. Ozzy’s such composition was Dreamer, which he called his Imagine in the annotation for the Prince of Darkness box set.
Indeed, Dreamer and Imagine have a lot in common. First of all, they are similar in expressed ideas, and musically, certain similarities can be traced. As the author of the song explained, in it he expressed his dreams of a happy and safe world for his children.

The name Dreamer refers to a line from Imagine in which Lennon refers to himself as a dreamer (“You might say I’m a dreamer”). The phrase “after all there’s only just the two of us” is considered a nod to the Beatles song Two of Us, which many see as McCartney’s dedication to Lennon.
Ozzy Osbourne wrote Dreamer in the late nineties, but it wasn’t until 2001, immediately after the tragic events of 9/11 in New York, that he included it as the third track on Down on Earth.
Dreamer climbed to number ten on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks.
