Meaning of Shake Up Christmas by Train & The Story Behind

Writer once said: “There is no hack, there is our creative impotence.” He had a chance to write a lot on given topics, and he knew for sure that it was possible to create an excellent work, even being constrained by the strict framework of the order.

This has been repeatedly confirmed by well-known musicians who, having undertaken to compose tracks for feature films or commercials, showed the world wonderful compositions. Such was the history of the creation of the Christmas track Shake Up Christmas by the rock band Train.

The story and meaning of the song Shake Up Christmas

Let’s start with the fact that the members of this American band have long dreamed of their own Christmas song. Naturally, when in 2010 they were offered to work on the main composition for the new Coca-Cola advertising campaign, they immediately agreed.

The song Shake Up Christmas was co-written by Train vocalist Patrick Monahan with Butch Walker. Monaghan later said that he found it cynical to create solely for commercial purposes, because in this case “you will not be able to write inspiring music.”

According to him, he did everything possible to make people sincerely enjoy the holiday with a song in the context of the financial crisis. Actually, the text of the composition is devoted to this, which became the decoration of bright commercials for the popular drink.

Release and achievements

Shake Up Christmas is featured on the album Save Me, San Francisco by rock band Train. On November 1, 2010, it was released as the fourth single from this record.

The appearance of the song Shake Up Christmas in the European charts was not particularly successful. She climbed the highest in the Dutch Top 40 in the Netherlands (sixth place). The single peaked at number 99 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 134 on the UK Singles Chart.

Shake Up Christmas Lyrics by Train

Ho, ho, ho
Shake up the happiness
Wake up the happiness
Shake up the happiness
It’s Christmas time

There’s a story that I was told
And I wanna tell the world
Before I get too old
And don’t remember it
So let’s December it
And reassemble it oh yeah

Once upon a time in a town like this
A little girl made a great big wish
To fill the world full of happiness
And be on Santa’s magic list

Shake it up
Shake up the happiness
Wake it up
Wake up the happiness
Come on y’all
It’s Christmas time

Ho, Ho, Ho
Ho, Ho, Ho
It’s Christmas time
At the same time miles away
A little boy made a wish that day
That the world would be okay
If Santa Claus would hear him say,
I got dreams and I got love
I got my feet on the ground
And family above
Can you send some happiness
With my best to the rest
Of the people of the East and the West and
Maybe every once in a while
Give my grandma a reason to smile
Tis the season to smile
It’s cold but we’ll be freezing in style
And let me meet a girl one day that
Wants to spread some love this way
We can let our souls run free and
She can open some happiness with me

I know you’re out there
I hear your reindeer
I see the snow where
Your boots have been
I’m gonna show them
So they will know then
Their love will grow when
They believe again

Lyrics Shake Up Christmas by Train Alternate

Ho ho ho
Spread the happiness
Wake up happiness
Stir up happiness
It’s Christmas now

I was told a story
And I wanted to tell it to the world
Before I get too old
And I will forget her
December is the time
To repeat it again

Once upon a time in a town like this
The little girl made a big wish:
Fill the world with happiness
And be on Santa’s magic list

Stir him up
Stir up happiness
wake him up
Wake up happiness
Let’s all get together
It’s Christmas now

Ho ho ho
Ho ho ho
It’s Christmas now
At the same time, many miles away
The little boy made a wish
To keep the world in order
If Santa Claus hears him:
“I have dreams and love.
I am a practical person
And I have a family.
Could you send some happiness
Best wishes from me to others
To people in the east and west
And maybe from time to time you
Give my grandma a reason to smile
It’s a reason to smile
It’s cold, but we’ll freeze with taste
And let me meet a girl one day
Who wants to give love in the same way
We can let our souls free and
She can open a little happiness with me

I know you are there
I hear your deer
I see snow there
Where did your boots go?
I’ll show them
For them to know
How will their love grow?
When will they believe again
