In January 1979, it was released as a single from the album Jazz, the seventh in the discography of the rock band Queen. The back of the single could have either More of That Jazz or In Only Seven Days. In the UK, the song peaked at number nine on the chart and peaked at number 86 in the US.

A live version of Don’t Stop Me Now was included on the album Live Killers (1979). The song is also included on the Greatest Hits compilation (1981).
