The second studio album by the Belgian band Hooverphonic (1998), named after one of the Blue Wonder Power Milk tracks, was the first album featuring vocalist Heike Arnaert.
The compositions included in it appealed not only to connoisseurs of the music of this genre – they were also actively used by directors of feature films, television series and commercials. Eden (“Eden”) has become one of them, but we will talk about its connection with the cinema a little lower, but first a few words about the history of the song.
History and meaning of the song Eden – Hooverphonic
The author of words and music is bass guitarist Alex Callier. Unfortunately, it was not possible to find any of his comments on the meaning inherent in the text. Apparently, we are talking about broken relationships, broken love and an unsuccessful attempt to create a personal Eden. However, there will certainly be listeners who understand the main idea of the composition in a different way.
Do you know what Hooverphonic’s song Eden is about? Tell in the comments.
Eden, like other tracks on the album, was recorded in separate studios and even in different countries. Work on vocals was in Belgium. Parts of most instruments were prepared in New York. The only exception was the strings, which were written in the city of Mol. The original tracks were mixed in Paris and mastered in Portland.
Release and achievements
The composition Eden was released as one of four singles from the album Blue Wonder Power Milk. In the same 1998, British singer Sarah Brightman released a cover of it. Her version made it to the UK Singles Chart.
The popularity of the song was facilitated by its inclusion in the thriller “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” by Danny Cannon. Interestingly, Jim Gillespie, the director who shot the first part of the film, also used the composition of the Hooverphonic group – 2Wicky.

Eden Lyrics
Did you ever think of me
As your best friend
Did I ever think of you
I’m not complaining
I never tried to feel
I never tried to feel this vibration
I never tried to reach
I never tried to reach your eden
Did I ever think of you
as my enemy
Did you ever think of me
I’m complaining
I never tried to feel
I never tried to feel this vibration
I never tried to reach
I never tried to reach your eden
Eden Lyrics
Have you ever thought of me
How about your best friend?
Did I think about you?
I’m not complaining
I never tried to feel
I never tried to feel these vibes
I never tried to get in
I never tried to get into your Eden
Did I think of you
How about your enemy?
Have you thought about me?
I am complaining
I never tried to feel
I never tried to feel these vibes
I never tried to get in
I never tried to get into your Eden
