Meaning of SLY song by the rock band Scorpions. In 2010, the legendary German heavy metal band Scorpions released their seventeenth studio album Sting in the Tail, which made it clear to skeptics that there was more than enough gunpowder in the powder flasks of old rockers. One of the tracks was a ballad called SLY, which literally translates from English as “naughty” or “cunning”, but in this case we are talking about an unusual female name.
Story of the creation of the song Sly Scorpions
Here is what Rudolf Schenker said about the history of the creation of the composition:
We have a… song on the album called SLY. This is the name of several thousand girls in France. We started a baby boom in France, and many parents came up with the idea of naming newborn girls Sly [Слай] based on the song Still Loving You. This gave Klaus an idea and he started writing about a girl who was born in 1985, right after Still Loving You came out.

Meaning of SLY song
Klaus Meine, in the same vein, explained what the composition is about:
This is a ballad, but rather in the style of real rock ballads. When Still Loving You from Love at First Sting became a hit in the eighties, many made love to it. In Europe, especially in France, we were often told: “We named our daughter Sly because of Still Loving You.” So I thought it would be nice to write a song about that girl, Sly.

It is also worth citing a fragment of an interview with Matthias Jabs, in which he told a touching story:
In 1985-86, after our show in Paris, a young couple approached me and asked for an autograph. They showed me a picture of their baby and said they named her Sly after the song Still Loving You. I couldn’t believe it and told it to Klaus. About three years ago we played at the famous Olympia in Paris, and the same couple approached us with a charming girl in her early twenties. They told us, “This is Sly.” It was a great story and Klaus turned it into lyrics.

Lyrics to Sly Scorpions
She was born with a song in the air
In the summer of 85
The clouds just went and the day became so bright
A child of love angel like
With the most beautiful smile
Growing up to be the sunshine of my life
Come talk to me
Don’t run away
Don’t let the distance grow
The door’s wide open
Don’t ever think
There is no way home
Sly come home tonight
The world is so bad you drive ’em all mad
With your smile
Sly my joy and my pride
When the runaway train took you away
A part of me died
The years went by like the summer of love
So much changed in our lives
They’re too many scars deep under my skin
Love turned to hate and hate to love
Let’s start all over again
And now I wonder what life will bring
Just let us laugh
The tears away
No more hard feelings no
Cause after all
You’re my flesh and blood
I don’t want you to fall
Sly come home tonight
The world is so bad you drive ’em all mad
With your smile
Sly come home alive
When the runaway train took you away
A part of me died
SLY Scorpions Lyrics
She was born to the sound of a song
In the summer of 85
The clouds have just cleared and the day is so clear
Love child like an angel
With the most beautiful smile
Growing to become a joy in my life
Come talk to me
Do not run away
Don’t move away
Doors open wide
Do not even think,
That there is no way home
Sly come home tonight
The world is so cruel and you drive everyone crazy
With your smile
Sly, my joy and my pride
When the departing train took you away
Part of me has died
The years passed like the summer of love
So much has changed in our lives
Deep under my skin I have too many scars
Love turned to hate and hate to love
Let’s start over again
I wish I knew what life would bring
Let’s laugh –
Tears away
The path will no longer be sorrows,
There is no reason for them
You are my blood and flesh
I don’t want you to fall
Sly come home tonight
The world is so cruel and you drive everyone crazy
With your smile
Sly, my joy and my pride
When the departing train took you away
Part of me has died
